Perhaps my experience would have been more positive if I had stayed in the main hotel or near the main hotel. As it was, I was placed in one of their out buildings. I don't believe I was informed of this when I was booked, so it feels a bit like a 'bait and switch.' The room was large and spacious, but that's about it. Definitely overpriced for what I received. Would not stay there again.

Great location. Beautiful main hotel. The room where I was staying was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

I was placed in one of their outlying buildings, which was apparently going for a 'rustic look' - There was a pile of wood or trash - hard to tell - right in the main foyer. Perhaps it was there for a fire place that did not seem to be nearby. The carpeting in the building and in my room had probably had not been updated since the 1980's.

    Fabulous

We wanted to stop in the Berkshires on our way home from the Adirondacks. We wanted to see the Norman Rockwell Museum. It is a famous old hotel and we wanted to meet a cousin for dinner.

The setting is lovely. The hotel reflects its long history. The front porch is fabulous. The decor is appropriate (country quaint), although there are a few places where the carpeting and furniture give a somewhat musty smell, that could be cleaner. The room in the Stevens House was comfortable, although the bathroom does not have a shelf in easy reach for toiletries kits. The AC worked well and the bed was comfortable. The service staff was friendly throughout.

The drink on the porch on Sunday was fun, but the porch was busy and there was only one waiter and service was slow. Dinner was good, but again service was slow. Our sense was that it was the kitchen, or the general organization, not the waiter. For example, there were not enough fish forks and two of us had mussels and had to wait for clean ones to come from the kitchen. The mussels should be served with the fish forks, or those should be provided as soon as the order is placed. Also, the waiter had to fill water glasses, there was no help to bus tables.

    Exceptional

The Red Lion Inn is very old fashioned and quaint. The service was excellent andfriendly and the breakfast in the dining room was great every morning.

Remember this is a very old building, the floors creak and the doors were a little sticky but I didn't mind.

It was a lovely stay. The hotel was crowded, and so a bit noisier than we'd have liked. Not their fault though. Service in the dining room and on the terrace was outstanding.

We were delighted with the suite accommodations.Until we located the stool, the bed was something of a challenge, but fun. We had a friendly visit from Simon who settled into the most comfortable chair in the room , and since my daughter and I both love cats we really enjoyed him.

    Superb

Everything is a delight in this charming hotel.

The room I stayed in had a noisy condenser out side the window of my room. I would have changed rooms but I was only there for one night and by the time I discovered the problem it was too late to make the change

The food was terrible. When I made the reservation it said the room came with Breakfast. When I asked the person at the front desk he was assistant that it did not. I left my copy of the reservation in my car so I just went along with him. After I checked out and looked at my receipt that I printed when I made the reservation. It confirmed that Breakfast was included.

    Fabulous

We ate all meal at the Red Lion. Very expensive but very good. The rooms are wonderful. We have been there before and the service and personel are wonderful.

Mostly just the prices everything is very expensive. No cell service??

    Very good

the charm of it. The lazy afternoons sitting on the porch. The local flavor. The whole beautiful mountain new england feel. The summer stock, Tanglewood, dance toups. Main Street & outlet shopping. Norman Rockwell country. The antiquing.

The very musty smell in hotel & room. Need more comfortable seating in room. Air conditioning too noisy & either works too high or too low. Could use ceiling fan in rooms. Dresser middle drawer coming apart. However so beautiful, such character. Reminiscent of another gentler era. Such wonderful antiques & architecture.

    Superb

Proximity to the Shrine of the King of Divine Mercy / Comfy / Old country style / Staff / Old fashioned / Simon the cat / Use of keys for the room instead of the modern cards! / Food

The door to our room didnt shut on its own. Had to lock it to ensure it stayed shut.

The front porch, it is just wonderful.

They could serve better coffee. An espresso bar would be great.

Loved the upstairs pub. Great food and service.

    Very good

    location. unusual environment ,i.e. antiquity

Food not enticing nor was service. Chef needs a refresher course in preparation of gourmet meals. We suffered through 2 blackouts one would expect a manager discount or extend courtesy to the guests to "make up" for the inconvenience, especially for the limited menu, i.e salads

The location and proximity to our family in Stockbridge

when I booked in August your site led me to believe that the room I booked at $135 per night was for a private room. However, upon arrival we learned that was for a shared bath and a private room with bath was $250 per night. We felt your ad was misleading or the Red Lion was not honoring the agreed upon nightly rate. We feel Booked.net should refund the difference. We are not satisfied--we found bugs in our bed, and very mediocre room for $250 a night--we are seasoned travelers--this is one of the least appealing rooms we have stayed in and we love bed and breakfast type of rooms--

    Superb

Sitting on the porch with drinks at sunset. Dining in the bistro. The bathrobes were a nice touch. The atmosphere of the old inn and its location in relation to Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Company, etc. The Cat! Very friendly and efficient service at dinner in the bistro.

Just a suggestion: An inn of this quality might offer some fresh water in the room. The bar seemed understaffed and we had to wait a long time for our drinks on the porch - not the server's fault. Another unnecessary wait occurred at breakfast when we opted for tea instead of coffee. (The breakfast itself was good.)
